How to Request a Core Increase on Your Azure Subscription

This guide will show you step-by-step instructions on how to resolve this issue.

This article refers to the MyCloudIT Gen 2 platform, which was launched in 2015. Look for MyCloudIT Gen 3 to be launched in early 2021.

Sometimes when you try to create a new deployment or expand your current deployment, your attempt may fail due to processor/core limitations in your subscription. By default, Azure limits the core count per subscription/region, but you can request a core increase.

This guide will show you step-by-step instructions on how to resolve this issue.

To request a core increase, please go to the Azure portal and open Help + Support.

Then create a + New support request.

Please choose an Issue Type of Quota, your Subscription, and a Quota Type of Cores, then, of course, your Support Plan.

Now describe the problem:  You can define the severity, to meet your need, please ensure that the Deployment model is set to Resource Manager and the Location is set to the Azure region of your current deployment.  Once this is complete, please choose the SKU family(s) that need core increases.  Note that you can add multiple SKU families if needed.

Now enter the NEW LIMIT size for each of the cores you are requesting.

The final page is your contact information.  Once you submit this ticket, the Azure team will move forward with increasing your core count for the region selected.

Please note that if you need core increases for multiple regions, you will need to submit multiple tickets.
